William Byron overcame a pit road speeding penalty and rallied through the field to win the BetMGM 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24, 2025. Driving the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in just his second NASCAR Xfinity Series start of the year, Byron passed reigning series champion Justin Allgaier through Turn 4 on the first lap of overtime and held on as a late-race caution froze the field. The win was Byron's first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory since 2017 and his first ever win at his home track of Charlotte.
