William Byron drives the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the NASCAR Cup Series, where he carries the storied car number Jeff Gordon raced for two decades. Byron is a two-time Daytona 500 winner and one of the most consistent contenders of the Next Gen era.

Born November 29, 1997 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Byron started his racing career through the iRacing simulator before making the unusual transition to real-world racing in his late teens. He won the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year, the 2017 Xfinity Series championship, and the 2018 Cup Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year, climbing the ladder at the fastest possible pace.

Byron has multiple NASCAR Cup Series victories, headlined by back-to-back Daytona 500 wins in 2024 and 2025, making him one of only five drivers in NASCAR history to win the Great American Race in consecutive seasons. He led the regular-season standings for stretches of the 2023 and 2024 seasons and has been a Championship 4 contender. Byron earned the Cup Series regular-season title in 2024.

Outside of the car, Byron has continued to support sim-racing development and serves as one of NASCAR's most active ambassadors with younger fans through digital platforms. He is a graduate of Liberty University, where he studied communications, and resides in North Carolina.
