Shane van Gisbergen drives the No. 97 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. The Auckland, New Zealand native, widely known as SVG, joined NASCAR full-time in 2025 after a decorated career in Australian Supercars.
Van Gisbergen is a three-time Supercars champion, having won titles with Triple Eight Race Engineering in 2016, 2021, and 2022. His 80 series wins place him fourth on the all-time wins list, and he claimed the Bathurst 1000 in 2020, 2022, and 2023. He also won the 2016 Bathurst 12 Hour driving a McLaren and earned a Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup title that same year.
His NASCAR introduction came through Trackhouse's PROJECT91 program at the inaugural Chicago Street Race in 2023, where he became the first driver since Johnny Rutherford in 1963 to win his Cup Series debut. After a developmental year that included three Xfinity wins driving the No. 97 for Kaulig Racing, van Gisbergen moved to full-time Cup competition in 2025. His rookie campaign produced five wins, the most ever by a Cup rookie, including the inaugural Mexico City race and a victory at the Charlotte Roval.
The switch to the No. 97 for 2026 carries personal significance. The number was used by his father Robert during his racing career and accompanied SVG through his entire Supercars run. He is paired with crew chief Stephen Doran and continues to develop his oval program.
