Talladega Superspeedway is a 2.66-mile tri-oval superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama. It is the longest oval on NASCAR's Cup Series schedule.
The track features 33 degrees of banking in the turns, 16.5 degrees in the tri-oval section, and 2 degrees on the straights. Talladega opened in 1969 and is owned by NASCAR. The combination of length and high banking made it the fastest closed-course oval in motorsport, with practice and qualifying speeds historically reaching over 200 mph before NASCAR introduced restrictor plates following Bobby Allison's catchfence crash in 1987.
Pack racing defines Talladega. Drivers run in tight, multi-car drafts, and the "Big One," a multi-car crash that often takes out a significant portion of the field, is a signature element of the racing. Dale Earnhardt Sr. holds the record for most Cup Series wins at Talladega with ten.
