Rick Ware Racing is a Mooresville, North Carolina based NASCAR team competing in the Cup Series with Chevrolet. Rick Ware, a third-generation racer who began driving at age six, founded the team in 1995 after transitioning from competition into team ownership. The organization expanded across NASCAR's national series with consistent Cup Series participation since 2017.
RWR is a single-car Cup operation with more than 700 career starts at the top level. The team has earned two top-five finishes and 11 top-10 finishes through the end of 2025, with David Ragan finishing fourth in the 2020 Daytona 500 and Cody Ware matching that fourth-place result at the same track in the 2024 Coke Zero Sugar 400. The team also competes full-time in the NHRA Top Fuel ranks, the Progressive American Flat Track series, the FIM World Supercross Championship, and the zMAX CARS Tour.
For the 2026 Cup Series season, RWR fields a single full-time entry: Cody Ware (the son of Rick Ware) in the No. 51 Chevrolet. Ware led 31 laps in 2025, including 23 laps in the August Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona.
A significant change came ahead of 2026. RWR switched from Ford to Chevrolet after four seasons, forming a new technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing that includes engines built by ECR Engines. The move marks the team's return to Chevrolet after running the manufacturer prior to 2017. RWR previously held technical alliances with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2022 and RFK Racing from 2023 through 2025.
