Richard Childress Racing is a Welcome, North Carolina based NASCAR team competing in the Cup Series with Chevrolet. Richard Childress, a NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, founded the organization in 1969 and continues as chairman with Chartwell Investments holding a 40 percent ownership stake.
RCR has won six NASCAR Cup Series championships, all earned with Dale Earnhardt during his tenure with the team from 1984 to his death in 2001. The organization has accumulated more than 200 victories across its national-series programs and three Daytona 500 wins, claimed by Earnhardt in 1998, Kevin Harvick in 2007, and Austin Dillon in 2018. RCR was the first organization to win championships in the Cup Series, the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series (formerly Xfinity), and the Truck Series.
For the 2026 Cup Series season, RCR fields two full-time entries: Austin Dillon (the team owner's grandson) in the No. 3 and 2015 and 2019 Cup champion Kyle Busch in the No. 8. The team also runs a part-time No. 33 entry. RCR fields two full-time entries in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series with Jesse Love in the No. 2 and Austin Hill in the No. 21.
ECR Engines, a wholly owned RCR subsidiary, builds Chevrolet powerplants for the team and several other national-series programs. RCR provides engines to Rick Ware Racing under a new technical alliance for 2026.
