The track features 12 degrees of banking in the turns and 2 degrees on the straights. New Hampshire opened in 1990 and is owned by Speedway Motorsports. The flat configuration, sometimes called "The Magic Mile," produces a racing style closer to a short track than a true intermediate, with heavy braking into the corners and an emphasis on tire management.

New Hampshire is the only Cup Series venue in New England and serves as a key Northeast market race.
