Martinsville Speedway is a 0.526-mile short track in Ridgeway, Virginia, near Martinsville. It is the shortest track on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule and the only one to host Cup races every year since the series began in 1949.

The track features 12 degrees of banking in the turns and a flat surface on the straights. Martinsville opened in 1947 and is owned by NASCAR. The "paperclip" shape, with two long straights connected by tight, flat turns, produces hard braking and frequent contact. The straights are asphalt, and the turns were repaved with concrete patches in 2004.

Martinsville is famous for its grandfather clock trophy, awarded to the winner of each Cup Series race. The fall race typically falls late in the playoffs and has often decided championship eligibility. Richard Petty holds the all-time Cup wins record at Martinsville with 15.
