Darlington Raceway is a 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval in Darlington, South Carolina.

The track features 25 degrees of banking in turns one and two and 23 degrees in turns three and four, with 6 degrees on the straights. Darlington opened in 1950 as NASCAR's first superspeedway and is owned by NASCAR. The asymmetrical layout, with one end tighter than the other, gives the track its nickname "The Lady in Black" and "The Track Too Tough to Tame." Drivers typically pick up a "Darlington Stripe," a scrape against the outside wall, while running the preferred groove.

Darlington hosts the Southern 500, NASCAR's oldest superspeedway race and a crown jewel held annually on Labor Day weekend. The race is the centerpiece of NASCAR's Throwback Weekend, where teams run paint schemes honoring the sport's history. A Southern 500 victory ranks among the most prestigious wins in stock car racing.
