Austin Cindric drives the No. 2 Team Penske Ford Mustang Dark Horse in the NASCAR Cup Series, where he enters his fifth full-time season in 2026. Cindric is best known as the 2022 Daytona 500 champion, captured in just his eighth career Cup start.
Born September 2, 1998, Cindric grew up immersed in motorsports as the son of Team Penske president Tim Cindric and grandson of former IndyCar team owner Jim Trueman. He raced sports cars, the Road to Indy ladder, and Global Rallycross before settling into stock cars, and now resides in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Cindric has multiple Cup Series victories, headlined by his rookie 2022 Daytona 500 win, a 2024 win at World Wide Technology Raceway, and a 2025 victory at Talladega Superspeedway. The Daytona triumph made him the first Cup rookie to win the "Great American Race" and delivered the first Daytona 500 victory for the storied No. 2 car. He also captured the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship for Team Penske, with 13 career wins in that division.
Cindric carried strong momentum into 2025 with a career-best 325 laps led, advancing to the playoffs in three of his first four seasons. Beyond NASCAR, he has competed in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and made a 2025 wildcard Supercars start in Adelaide for Tickford Racing.
