The São Paulo native, born May 10, 1975, is one of the most accomplished drivers in IndyCar history and has competed in NASCAR's biggest race as a one-off appearance.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCastroneves built his career in open-wheel and sports car racing. He is one of four drivers to win the Indianapolis 500 four times, with victories in 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2021. He owns more than 30 IndyCar wins and was runner-up in the championship four times. He is a three-time winner of the Rolex 24 at Daytona (2021, 2022, 2023) and won the 2020 IMSA SportsCar Championship overall title with Team Penske. His earlier stock car experience came in 16 IROC starts from 2002 to 2005.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHis 2025 Daytona 500 attempt was a years-long project realized through Trackhouse founder Justin Marks. Castroneves used a newly created world-class provisional to start the race despite a difficult Speedweeks that included multiple practice and Duel incidents.
